#CRICUT DESIGN SPACE TUTORIALS, TIPS & TRICKS
It’s time to start making the most of your Cricut Cutting Cut Machines! With the Cricut Design Space free app, becoming a pro at using your Cricut design machine is a piece of cake! I put together 10 easy tips for you to follow to make sure you are getting the most out of your machine whether you’re working with an SVG, JPG, or PNG.
TIP #1 - Get The App Whether you are on a laptop or a desktop in your home, you can access Cricut Design Space by following this link: https://design.cricut.com, you can also search it in the app store if you are using a smartphone. It’s completely free so definitely take advantage of this useful resource! Once you get the app just follow the prompts and create your Cricut ID!
TIP #2 - Grid Controlling You can adjust or alter the appearance of the grid or canvas which is the space in which your design will appear. This can easily be done by clicking the blank space in the top left corner of your rulers. To get rid of the grid lines on the smartphone version just go into your settings which will be located in the bottom toolbar then toggle Grids. This comes in handy when you want to take a screenshot without the grid showing in the back of the design. While on desktop, you can change the dimensions of your grid by going to the three lines or the hamburger menu in the top left corner.

TIP #3 - Smart Guides (To Use or Not to Use) Smart Guides are a great way to help position something on your design space. However sometimes when trying to position something perfectly the smart guides can get in the way. To turn this feature off go to the settings in the bottom toolbar and switch the smart guides to off.
TIP #4 - Keyboard Shortcuts To see the awesome keyboard shortcuts Cricut Design Space has to offer, just press the question mark key on your keyboard (shift + / ). These shortcuts provide an easy way out to do things in just a click of a button rather than clicking in and out of different boxes. Some of the shortcuts including undo, redo, cut, copy, paste, bring forward, send back, and so on.
TIP #5 - Repositioning Items On The Mat This hidden gem was such a handy tool to find. To move or rotate items on your mat to position your cuts or pen writing, just click or tap and drag an item in your preview to a new location. If on a desktop you can also move the objects to another mat or hide them by clocking the dots.
TIP #6 - Sync Colors It can get annoying when you’re working with a bunch of different shades of one color and they all want to cut out on different pieces. If you use the Color Sync feature, you can get all the colors to match! Just click “Color Sync”, for the desktop version, at the top right side to manage all the colors being used. For the app version, you can tap on the Sync icon in the toolbar at the bottom.
TIP #7 - Sharing With Others In the age of sharing everything on social media, who wouldn’t want to share their impressive work? As long as your design space contains no uploaded files you can share your work as long as you enable the public option. First, save the project then go to your saved projects and click share to get a shareable link to your work.
TIP #8 - Removing Parts of a Design If you don’t want a part of your design you can remove it by opening the design, deleting it, and clicking the Contour button in the lower right corner. Now you can just click on the parts you don’t want and the program will hide them.
TIP #9 - Uploading Images You can easily upload your own JPG, GIF, BMP, and PNG images to Cricut Design Space by finding the image and clicking upload to upload it. You can also use the cleanup tools to get rid of the background of an image.
TIP #10 - Rearranging Layers You can easily fix any overlapping layers. Just click the object and select rearrange and select where you want it to move. On the app version, you can tap edit then arrange and select your desired option. I hope these tips were helpful! Feel free to share a link to some of your work in the comment section below!
